Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups white granulated sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • ⅔ cup vegetable oil

Fruit and Spices

  • 1 cup apples, diced and peeled
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Cinnamon Sugar Swirl

  • ⅔ cup white granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Pans: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two loaf pans thoroughly to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups sugar, 4 cups all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined. Set aside.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer, beat the eggs, milk, and vegetable oil together until just combined to keep the batter light.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just moist. Avoid overmixing to ensure a tender bread.
  5. Add Apples and Cinnamon: Fold in the diced, peeled apples and 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon evenly into the batter.
  6. Fill Loaf Pans: Pour the batter evenly into the greased loaf pans, filling them about two-thirds full to allow room for rising during baking.
  7. Prepare Cinnamon Sugar Swirl: In a small bowl, mix together ⅔ cup sugar and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Spoon this mixture evenly over the top of each loaf. Using a knife, gently swirl the cinnamon sugar into the batter to create a marbled effect.
  8. Bake: Place the pans in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Cool and Serve: Remove the loaves from the oven and let them cool in the pans for about 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Ensure apples are peeled and diced evenly for uniform texture.
  • Filling loaf pans only two-thirds full prevents overflow as the bread rises.
  • Swirling the cinnamon sugar topping creates a beautiful marbled effect and adds extra flavor.
  • This bread can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerated for up to a week.
  • For a nuttier variation, consider adding ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans to the batter.
  • Use fresh cinnamon for the best flavor.
  • Check doneness by inserting a toothpick; it should come out clean or with just a few crumbs attached.
