Ingredients

Scale

Beef Mixture

  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 green onion, sliced (reserve half for garnish)

Dumplings and Cooking

  • 12 to 14 frozen beef dumplings
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 green onion, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the skillet: Place your skillet over medium-high heat and add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, swirling to coat the bottom evenly.
  2. Mix the ground beef: In a bowl, combine the ground beef with minced garlic, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, and half of the sliced green onions. Mix well to distribute the flavors.
  3. Cook the beef: Add the beef mixture to the hot skillet and cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until the beef is browned and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes. Once done, push the beef to one side of the skillet.
  4. Sear the dumplings: Arrange the frozen beef dumplings in the empty side of the skillet. Let them cook undisturbed for 2-3 minutes so the bottoms turn golden brown and crisp.
  5. Steam the dumplings: Pour 1/4 cup water into the skillet carefully, then cover immediately with a lid. Let the dumplings steam for 4-5 minutes until fully cooked and tender.
  6. Finish with sesame oil: Remove the lid and drizzle 1 teaspoon sesame oil over the dumplings and beef. Allow any excess moisture to evaporate for a minute while gently tossing all ingredients together to combine flavors evenly.
  7. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle the remaining green onions on top and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Use frozen beef dumplings for best texture and convenience; no need to thaw before cooking.
  • Adjust soy sauce quantity based on your salt preference or dietary restrictions.
  • For added crunch, you can sprinkle toasted sesame seeds on top before serving.
  • If you prefer spiciness, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or serve with chili sauce.
  • This recipe works well in non-stick, cast iron, or stainless steel skillets for even cooking.
