Ingredients

Scale

Fruit and Candy

  • 12 Maraschino Cherries with stems
  • 12 White Fudge Oreos
  • 12 Hershey’s Kisses, unwrapped
  • 24 Candy eyes
  • 12 Red jumbo nonpareils

Chocolate and Decorations

  • 1 cup Chocolate Melting Wafers
  • 1 teaspoon Vegetable oil
  • 24 Sliced almonds
  • Green sparkle gel
  • Red sparkle gel

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cherries: Rinse maraschino cherries under cold water and pat them dry thoroughly with paper towels to remove excess moisture, ensuring the chocolate adheres well.
  2. Melt Chocolate: Melt chocolate wafers in the microwave according to the package’s instructions. Stir in 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil to thin the chocolate, making it ideal for dipping.
  3. Dip Cherries: Holding each cherry by the stem, dip it into the melted chocolate, allowing any excess to drip off. Place the chocolate-covered cherry on one side of a white fudge Oreo.
  4. Attach Hershey’s Kiss: On the side opposite the cherry stem, place an unwrapped Hershey’s Kiss against the dipped cherry. Hold for 10 seconds so the chocolate sets and adheres.
  5. Add Ears: Drizzle a small amount of melted chocolate between the Hershey’s Kiss and cherry to secure. Place two sliced almonds in this gap to form the mouse ears. Hold the assembly for another 10 seconds to set.
  6. Place Eyes and Nose: Using a toothpick dipped in melted chocolate, carefully dab spots onto the Hershey’s Kiss to attach candy eyes and to create a nose.
  7. Decorate Holly: Using red and green sparkle gel, draw holly leaves with red berries on the other side of the Oreo to add festive flair.
  8. Storage: Store the completed Chocolate Christmas Mice in an airtight container to maintain freshness until serving.

Notes

  • If you have leftover melted chocolate, mix it with peanuts and spoon by teaspoons onto wax or parchment paper to make delicious peanut-chocolate candies.
  • Note that sparkle gel does not harden. If you need to transport the Christmas Mice, it is recommended to use a hardening frosting instead of gel for decorations to prevent smudging.
