Firecracker Salmon is a mouthwatering dish featuring crispy seared salmon fillets drizzled with a spicy-sweet Asian-inspired firecracker sauce. The perfect balance of heat and sweet, this recipe is sure to impress.

SALMON

  • 5 6 oz. skinless salmon fillets
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons neutral oil (like canola or vegetable)

FIRECRACKER SAUCE

  • 3/4 cup Asian sweet chili sauce (like Mae Ploy)
  • 3 tablespoons reduced sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon Asian chili sauce (like Sambal Oelek)
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil

PEACH SALSA (optional)

  • 2 large ripe yellow peaches, peeled and chopped
  • 1 Roma tomato, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1/4 cup minced red onion
  • 1 jalapeño, minced
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 2 tablespoons minced cilantro
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. If using, prepare Peach Salsa: Combine all Peach Salsa ingredients in a medium bowl and set aside.
  2. Prepare Firecracker Sauce: Whisk together all Firecracker Sauce ingredients in a separate medium bowl and set aside.
  3. Dredge Salmon: In a large shallow dish, whisk together flour and salmon seasonings. Pat salmon dry, then coat each piece with the mixture, pressing lightly to adhere. Transfer to a plate.
  4. Sear Salmon: Heat neutral oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear salmon until golden, about 3 minutes per side.
  5. Add Sauce: Pour Firecracker Sauce over salmon. Simmer until salmon reaches 130°F, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Finish: Remove from heat and spoon sauce over salmon. Serve with Peach Salsa or garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Enjoy with rice.
