Ingredients

Scale

Cream Cheese Layer

  • 12 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 Tablespoon grated onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Cocktail Sauce

  • 12 ounce bottle chili sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon prepared horseradish
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

Remaining Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh boiled shrimp, chopped into ½-inch pieces
  • 2 green onion tops, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cream Cheese Layer: Blend together the softened cream cheese, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, grated onion, and minced garlic until smooth and evenly combined. Spread this mixture evenly in an 8-inch springform pan or a shallow serving dish. Cover with foil and refrigerate for a minimum of 12 hours to allow flavors to meld and for the dip to set.
  2. Make Cocktail Sauce: In a separate bowl, combine the chili sauce, prepared horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, and fresh lemon juice. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly blended. Cover and refrigerate this sauce until ready to assemble the dip.
  3. Assemble the Dip: Remove the sides of the springform pan containing the cream cheese layer to reveal a smooth base layer. Evenly spread half of the prepared cocktail sauce over the cream cheese layer. Then, sprinkle the chopped shrimp evenly on top of the cocktail sauce. Garnish the dip with the chopped green onion tops for added freshness and color.
  4. Serve: Serve the layered shrimp cocktail dip chilled accompanied by crackers for dipping. Enjoy as a flavorful appetizer perfect for entertaining guests.

Notes

  • Full-fat cream cheese is recommended for best flavor and texture, but reduced-fat cream cheese can be substituted if desired.
  • Avoid using creamy horseradish sauce as a substitute; use prepared horseradish for an authentic cocktail sauce flavor.
  • You will only need about half of the cocktail sauce for the dip; refrigerate the remaining sauce for later uses.
