Ingredients
- 1 (12 oz) can Orange Soda
- 1 (6 oz) package Orange Jello Gelatin
- 1 (12 oz) can Sprite
- 1 (16 oz) container Cool Whip
- Boil Orange Soda: Heat the entire can of orange soda in a large saucepan over medium heat until it reaches a rolling boil.
- Dissolve Gelatin: Once boiling, remove from heat and slowly stir in the package of orange jello gelatin until completely dissolved.
- Add Sprite: Whisk in the can of Sprite thoroughly to combine the liquids and add fizz and flavor.
- Chill Mixture: Place the mixture in the refrigerator and allow it to start thickening but not fully set, approximately 30-45 minutes.
- Fold in Cool Whip: Once slightly thickened, gently beat in the entire container of Cool Whip until well blended and creamy.
- Set in Pan: Pour the combined mixture into a 9 x 9 inch pan and smooth the top evenly.
- Refrigerate to Set: Return the pan to the refrigerator and chill for several hours, ideally 3-4 hours or until firm and fully set before serving.
Notes
- For best results, do not allow the gelatin mixture to fully set before adding Cool Whip; it should be thick but still pourable.
- You can substitute the Cool Whip with homemade whipped cream for a fresher option.
- This salad keeps well for 2-3 days refrigerated but is best enjoyed fresh.
- Feel free to garnish with fresh orange slices or maraschino cherries for presentation.
