  • 1 1/4 cups (150g) all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vodka (or substitute with buttermilk)
  • 23 tablespoons ice-cold water, plus more if necessary

Instructions

  1. Chill the Butter: Cut the butter into small cubes and freeze for 15-30 minutes.
  2. Make the Dough: Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a food processor. Add butter and pulse until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add Liquids: Pour in vodka and ice-cold water. Pulse until dough forms.
  4. Form and Chill the Dough: Transfer dough to a floured surface, press into a disk, wrap, and chill for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  5. Roll the Dough: Roll dough into a round shape, larger than the pie plate. Transfer to the plate and shape accordingly.
  6. Trim and Flute the Edges: Trim excess dough, flute the edges, cover, and refrigerate before filling.
